Cory’s Story: A Glimpse into SPS Culture

Every member of our team has a story to tell, and we’re honored to share this one. It’s a perfect example of our commitment to diversity and respect, which is a living part of our culture at SPS, not just a policy.
Cory, a driver from our team in Suffolk said:
‘Upon joining this new workplace as a bus driver with SPS, I, as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, initially held some natural concerns regarding acceptance and respect. It is, regrettably, a reality that in the real world, one might experience exclusion or, even worse, face dangerous circumstances in certain countries due to the illegality of being gay.
However, I am delighted to share that since my arrival, I have not encountered any such concerns related to my sexuality. Being a part of this team feels inclusive, irrespective of one’s role, encompassing bus drivers, supervisors, those in HR, and individuals in higher-level office positions. All of my colleagues treat me with the same respect, and I feel like an integral part of the team, which is truly wonderful.
This inclusivity I feel would extend to all sexual orientations, including gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and others. As well as encompassing gender, race, beliefs, and potential disabilities.
As a happily married gay man, I can honestly and openly express that anyone joining the SPS team here would likely share the same positive experience.‘
This is just one of the many stories that reflect our commitment to a welcoming and inclusive culture for all of our employees.
